I'm so happy you've taken the time out of your busy day to learn about me and what sets me apart from the hundreds of other qualified and skilled therapists available to you. Below, I've put together a snapshot of my educational and training background, as well as my general approach to practice. I hope this helps you learn more about me, so that you can choose whether or not to start the next step in your journey here.
I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Social Work at the Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) and my Master's Degree in Social Work at the University of Toronto. I am a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (License #831821) and a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
What makes me stand out as a therapist is my focus on you in a holistic way. Coming from an anti-oppressive lens, I practice with the values of dignity, diversity, and self-empowerment at the forefront. I highly value honesty, collaboration, respect, and empathy, all of which are evident in the way I approach all sessions. The ideal outcomes in my practice are to enable and empower my clients to reach their self-identified goals within a supportive, empathetic, and therapeutic relationship. I will work with you to explore yourself and encourage healing while working within your window of tolerance.
As a therapist, I am constantly pushing myself to keep growing personally and professionally. I continue to explore new ways of learning, understanding, and practicing to ensure that I am providing my clients with the best care possible. I am always engaging with continuing education opportunities, supervision, and upgrading my skills as a therapist. I have years of practice in counselling and psychotherapy, and also currently work in an inpatient hospital setting as a social worker. I have always loved teaching, and now am also a trained supervisor in addition to my clinical work with clients.
I am a trained therapist with experience using evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Therapy, Strengths Based Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy, Somatic Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I work from an eclectic approach to address the multi-faceted concerns that you bring to our sessions, and tailor your treatment plan to your specific needs rather than trying to fit you into one model of therapy.
I see individuals and couples with a wide range of presenting concerns. I am constantly upgrading my understanding and training to reflect my clientele. My main areas of practice include, but are not limited to, the following:
Interpersonal relationships (i.e. Understanding relationship dynamics, conflict, attachment styles, and communication)
Intrapersonal relationships (i.e. The relationship with the self, self-confidence, self-esteem, self-respect, and body image)
Emotional understanding and regulation (i.e. Anxiety, stress, depression, and burnout)
Exploring and healing from past traumas
Building self-care routines and improving a sense of self
